Our Services

At Hamilton Foot Care , Irving M. Luftig, BSC, DPM and Corey P. Bess B.Sc., DPM offer a full array of podiatric services to help you maintain healthy feet. You can read more on this page about specific services.

Routine Foot Care

Foot care for diabetics, Corns, Calluses, Nails and Nail Disorders, Infections, Warts, Ulcers, Athlete’s Foot, Education and guidance for home care.

Arthritic Foot and Ankle Care

The arthritic foot  requires specialized podiatric care and expertise . Although there are many causes of arthritis, the pain and inflammation will respond to treatment that minimizes pressure, cushions the feet, improves function. We strive to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with arthritis.

Diabetic Foot Care

We offer specialized diabetic foot care with an emphasis on watching for potentially serious foot complications such as peripheral neuropathy. In addition to routine foot care, we are prepared to deal with foot ulcers, poor circulation in the feet, skin rash, loss of sensation, and weight-bearing imbalances.

Geriatric (Seniors) Foot Care

In addition to routine foot care, we can assist you with arthritic problems, bony prominences, vascular-related disorders, loss of sensation, weight-bearing imbalance and skeletal deformities (which can have an effect on the back as well as ankles, knees, and hips).

Injuries

A proper assessment and diagnosis leads to an appropriate treatment program, including prevention of recurrences.

Orthotics

We can assess your condition , prescribe and manufacture proper custom orthotics that are specifically designed to fit your feet and to treat your specific issue. As well, we can prescribe an orthotic design that will fit in your style of shoe so that you do not have to change your shoe to fit the orthotic. It is crucially important that a proper cast is taken after a comprehensive biomechanical exam and gait analysis . We ONLY take subtalar joint neutral position plaster of paris casts , and do not believe in foam box impressions or computer mat walkovers .

Pediatric (Children) Foot Care

Children can have foot problems, too! Many problems that manifest themselves in adulthood begin in the early years. Common problems for children are flat feet , low arches , intoeing and out-toeing gait and " heel off the ground " walking . We also actively manage pediatric  warts and ingrown nails. Children can also suffer from growth plate inflammation. Many of these conditions can cause problems later in life and should be treated early to establish a sound foundation for adulthood .

Podiatric Sports Medicine

Irving M Luftig B.Sc., DPM has been a longstanding member of the Canadian and American Colleges of Sports Medicine . Hamilton Foot Care has a very long history of treating runners, joggers, walkers , hockey players , golfers , tennis players , squash enthusiasts , curlers , and many other weekend up to elite athletes.  We treat heel spur problems, plantar fasciitis (arch or heel pain), Achilles tendonitis, muscle strain, turf toe , high arches (pes cavus), flexible low arches (pronation), knee pain secondary to improper foot function, leg pain (shin splints), and related low back pain, as well as many other sports related injuries.

Surgery

Although surgery is not normally a first option for treating any foot condition, when desirable or necessary, we perform surgeries in our office under local anaesthetic. Some of the conditions that we can treat surgically are ingrown toenails, corns and/or calluses (usually caused by an underlying condition), hammertoes, bunions, bone spurs, cysts and tumors, warts, enlarged joints, misaligned metatarsals, and skin lesions. In many cases, surgical procedures are performed using minimal incision techniques. With very few exceptions, the patient is able to walk out of the office with no assistance.
